Apex Game

Unlike many video games, Apex Legends is free to play and was released on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2019, and then released on Nintendo Switch in 2021. The game is planned to be released on Android and iOS in 2022, working with a touch screen only. The game is one of the few that can be played across platforms, with players picking up where they left off – no matter what device they choose to play on – but is it gay-friendly?

Apex legends gay characters is something special – because, for the first time in a long time, a mainstream video game’s main character is gay, but apparently, not many people knew about it. While there are many LGBT-friendly video games, not many have an LGBT character, and very few advertise the LGBT options. However, if you take a quick look at the Apex Legends gay characters, you’ll discover that Gibraltar was involved in an accident earlier in life when he protected his boyfriend in a mudslide.

Having Apex Legends LGBTQ characters opens the game up for many more Aroundmen users – without losing its popularity with other players who aren’t in the LGBT community.

Are There Apex Legends Gay Characters?

The most famous and perhaps most popular Apex LGBT Legends gay character is Gibraltar; however, he is not the only LGBTQ Apex Legends character. But who are the other LGBT characters?

Bloodhound

While it hasn’t been confirmed in the character bio as it has with Gibraltar, the voice actress for Bloodhound stated she played the character as non-binary.

Fuse

Fuse, another legend in the Apex world, was also confirmed to be pansexual after being described as a “ladies’ man, man’s man, and all-round manly man”.

Mirage

In a scene where Rampart accuses Mirage of being jealous about Pathfinder’s girlfriend/female friend, Mirage responds: “don’t you go using my already-standing-in-quicksand sexuality issues to confuse me.” Suggesting he is questioning is sexuality.

Loba

Loba, a female character within the game, was confirmed to be bisexual by a senior writer. In addition, within the gameplay she uses a line suggesting she will break your heart, whether you’re a man or a woman.

Valkyrie

One of the newest additions to the legends team, Valkyrie, was recently confirmed to be a lesbian by the actress who plays her, and this was also confirmed within the gameplay with the line from the character ‘I like my women like I like my sake – cool and on someone else’s tab.’

However, despite the acceptance in the LGBT community, the mainstream gaming world have made several comments about how the background and sexuality of the characters doesn’t make a difference to gameplay or how players feel about the game – with one gamer on a popular forum stating: “stop trying to earn pointless internet-cred by posting nonsense fluff about a character's sexual orientation or the way they identify themselves, or where they came from, or anything about them! Let people make that s**t up and imagine whatever they'd like”.

While non-LGBT members might find a problem with the LGBT backgrounds of different characters, the LGBT community are often forced into “straight relationships” when playing popular combat games.

However, for the LGBT community, being able to relate to characters and interact with other characters within the game helps provide an inclusive environment where players from all backgrounds make the game more popular in the wider community.

Within gay gaming forums, the game is extremely popular, not only for the gameplay but also for the excellent representation of the LGBTQ Apex Legends and heroes who represent people just like them and choose someone they can relate to.

The Best Apex Legend Gay Characters

Looking at the list above, it is hard to choose the best character as an Apex Legends LGBTQ it might be impossible. The best character will differ from person to person, as will the character we relate with most as internet-cured individuals. While we can’t suggest the best, we can say that Apex Legends is one of the few games globally where anyone and everyone – regardless of their sexuality, gender, or LGBT status – can find and choose a character that they can relate to.

Many other games are created only for the mainstream community or only for the LGBTQ community, with little cross-over. Still, Apex Legends is a true example of a real LGBT inclusive game that is open and inviting for everyone – providing characters who represent everyone.
